Die Tage der klassischen TK-Vermittlungstechnik sind gezählt. Alle großen Provider haben bis Ende des Jahres 2018 ISDN komplett abgestellt oder planen dies kurzfristig. Manche empfinden das als Zwang und trennen sich nur ungern von der vertrauten Technologie: Zu Unrecht, denn die ISDN-Ablösung ist eine hervorragende Gelegenheit, die eigene Kommunikationsstrategie grundsätzlich zu überdenken. Dabei geht es nicht bloß um rein technologische Fragen. Vielmehr hat VoIP auch eine unternehmerische und betriebswirtschaftliche Dimension:  VoIP eröffnet heute ebenso neue Geschäftschancen und kann Arbeitswelten flexibler, produktiver und einfacher gestalten. Allerdings müssen die Unternehmen in anderer Hinsicht ebenfalls umdenken: Mit ISDN und Internet hatten Firmen bislang zwei getrennte Kommunikationskanäle und damit immer ein Back-up im Notfall. Da diese redundante Sicherheit weg fällt, fragen sich viele ITK-Verantwortliche: Wie erreicht man bei VoIP ebenfalls eine maximale technische Verfügbarkeit des Dienstes? Fast schon panisch suchen wir dann nach unserem wichtigsten Begleiter, nur um schließlich zu erkennen, dass sich die Welt auch weitergedreht hat, ohne dass wir online waren. Schon beim Frühstück werden Mails, Nachrichten und Termine gecheckt, wird gelesen, gepostet und gechattet. Für viele Menschen geht es so durch den gesamten Tag bis zum Schlafengehen. In Zahlen bedeutet das: Knapp drei Stunden im Schnitt nutzen wir einer Studie der Universität Bonn zufolge täglich unser Smartphone. Durchschnittlich alle 18 Minuten aktivieren wir es, um beispielsweise Mails und Nachrichten zu lesen oder eine App zu nutzen. Die permanente Erreichbarkeit und die inzwischen fehlende Abgrenzung zwischen Beruf und Privatleben stresst viele Menschen und ist gesundheitsgefährdend. Der durch eine britische Studie geprägte Begriff „Nomophobia“ (kurz für „No-Mobile-Phone-Phobia“) bringt die Obsession auf den Punkt: Wer Angst davor hat, auch nur eine Sekunde unerreichbar zu sein, hat ein Problem und sollte öfter mal „abschalten“.  Aber was kann man tatsächlich tun?
