Je älter oder empfindlicher diese wertvollen Kunstobjekte sind, desto vorsichtiger muss mit ihnen umgegangen werden. Deshalb befinden sich solche Ausstellungsstücke meist hinter Glas und hängen darin an dünnen Fäden in der Luft oder ruhen auf einer Ablage mit Stoßdämpfern. Nicht nur, um unbefugtes Anfassen zu verhindern, sondern auch, um die optimalen Bedingungen für die Konservierung innerhalb des mit Glas eingefassten Raums gewährleisten zu können. Kritisch wird es allerdings beim Transport. Auf seiner Reise zwischen den Ausstellungsorten kann ein fragiles Kunstwerk mit verschiedenen Transportmitteln transportiert werden: Mit LKW, Bahn, Flugzeug oder sogar per Schiff – je mehr das Ausstellungsstück selbst bewegt und umgeladen werden muss, desto kritischer ist die gesamte Operation. Damit sich ein Exponat dennoch während des Transports stets in einer möglichst erschütterungsfreien und klimatisch optimalen Umgebung befindet, hat das Unternehmen Artguardian GmbH aus Berlin zusammen mit mehreren Fraunhofer-Instituten ein System entwickelt, das die Transportbedingungen stets überwacht und den Status an den Eigentümer der Kunstwerke übermittelt, der dann sofort eingreifen kann, wenn Grenzwerte über- oder unterschritten werden. Diese Daten müssen weltweit und während des Transports live übermittelt werden können, da sich der Eigentümer durchaus am anderen Ende der Welt befinden kann. Mobilfunknetze bieten diese Verbindung am zuverlässigsten an. Daher setzt die Artguardian GmbH für die M2M Kommunikation per Mobilfunk auf eine M2M SIM von Telefónica. Doch da das Auto ebenfalls in der Kälte stand, fühlen es sich an, als würden Sie in einen Gefrierschrank steigen. Hier kommt die ferngesteuerte Autostandheizung ins Spiel, die das Unternehmen digades GmbH aus Zittau entwickelt hat. Die Besonderheit dabei: Die Fernsteuerung funktioniert nicht nur auf kurze Distanzen, sondern auch, wenn das Auto erheblich weiter entfernt steht.
