Doch leider läuft der Ausbau denkbar schleppend. Der von der Bundesregierung auf den Weg gebrachte Förderpakt „DigitalPakt Schule“ stellt Fördermittel in Höhe von rund 5 Milliarden Euro zur Verfügung, von denen bisher gerade mal rund 16 Millionen Euro abgerufen wurden. Das soll sich ändern! Diese besteht pro Paket aus einem Apple iPad 8. Generation (32 GB, Wi-Fi, 4G) und einem o2 Business Datentarif mit unbegrenztem nationalen LTE-Datenvolumen. Ferner können Schulen Lerninhalte für ihre Schulklassen individuell festlegen und zum Beispiel aus einer Liste mit den Top-200-Lern-Apps auswählen. - Der zweite Teil des Pakets enthält die IT-Unterstützung mit der darin enthaltenen Administrations-Lizenz (Mobile Device Management/MDM) für die Einrichtung und Verwaltung der Geräte. - Teil drei bietet Information und Beratung durch o2  Besonders Teil drei gilt es große Aufmerksamkeit zu schenken. Denn es ist in erster Linie nicht die Ausrüstung, an der das Projekt scheitert. Vielmehr muss es darum gehen, den Lehrern/innen die nötige Medien- und Technikkompetenz mit auf den Weg zu geben und mit Fortbildungen und kontinuierlicher Hilfestellung zu unterstützen. O2 ist sich dessen wohl bewusst und bietet neben Hard- und Software eben auch umfassende Informationen und Beratung an. Markus Hass, CEO von o2, findet zum Stand der Dinge klare Worte: „Noch sind unsere Schulen schlechter mit IT ausgestattet als in Kasachstan. Das muss sich ändern!“ Natürlich hat das Ganze auch seinen Preis, der allerdings von den zur Verfügung stehenden 5 Milliarden gut und gerne bezahlt werden kann. Das Digitalpaket für Schulen von o2 Business kostet 33,99 Euro (netto) monatlich pro Paket. Buchbar ist das Paket nur für Schulen, die auch im Digitalpakt Schule förderungsberechtigt sind. Die Mindestvertragslaufzeit liegt bei 24 Monaten. Schulen, die bereits Geräte angeschafft haben, können auch nur einzelne Bestandteile des Digitalpakets buchen.
